As reported in today's Bergan Record…
After the game, Martinez said, “I don't know what's going to happen [Wednesday against Atlanta], so I can't say anything.”
When asked if he could be pushed back from Game 1, Martinez responded, “There's always a chance.”
Martinez at least was in good spirits. The clubhouse phone next to
his locker rang, and he picked it up and said, “Kentucky Fried Chicken.
How can I help?”
Before the game, Randolph also indicated that Tom Glavine would make
his final regular-season start Saturday or Sunday against Washington,
but that could change depending on how Martinez comes out of his final
regular-season start.
Willie Randolph spoke to Christopher Russo on WFAN yesterday and when asked if Pedro would be number 1 and Glavine would be number 2, come playoffs, Willie said “not necessarily”
Could Willie have something else in mind or was he just yanking Mad Dog's chain?

The New York Post today is reporting the Tommy Glavine's numbness issue due to a clot in his shoulder is able to be treated with medication and not surgery.
Glavine, whom the source said is expected to be
treated with medication, had been feeling a coldness in his left ring
finger. The southpaw said on Sunday that if he needed surgery, he might
not be on a mound again in 2006. If there were no operation, he said,
he might be able to return quickly.
The source did not specify the cause of Glavine's problem.
The Post also reports that Pedro could return as early as next week. Despite what some people have said that shutting down Pedro for the remained of the season to prepare him for the playoffs, Pedro needs to pitch to retain his velocity, as Matt Cerrone's Mets Blog explained citing a former major league pitcher who said that a pitcher will lose speed on his fastball with lack of activity.
The Mets showed why they have one of the tightest clubhouses in baseball. David Wright and Tom Glavine stood by his side when Paul Lo Duca read his statement to reporters on Tuesday. Here are some quotes out of Adam Rubin's Daily News Blog by some of Paulie's teammates…

Trachsel will pitch carefully to the greatest Mets hitter of
all-time when he steps to the plate tonight, likely to a raucous
ovation from a thankful fan base.
“It's still Mike Piazza,” Trachsel said. “He's still a power threat. He drives in runs and gets a lot of clutch hits.
“All the things you think of Mike Piazza, he's still capable of doing.”
Former teammates still hold the 37-year-old future Hall of Famer in high esteem.
“He did a lot of beautiful things here,” Jose Reyes said.
“Hopefully he gets a nice ovation when he comes back in,”
manager Willie Randolph said. “He's meant a lot to this organization
and the city. And he's having a nice year.”
Willie had more nice things to say about Mike in The New York Daily News.
David Wright expects a huge ovation for Mike.
Mike's numbers, .297 with 16 home runs and 49 RBI, are good enough to keep him in the upper echelon of catchers in baseball, but as Tom Glavine points out, Mike will always be compared to himself in his prime, which few players at any position can keep up forever.

Coleman started off announcing that Duaner Sanchez was undergoing surgery as we speak, ending his season.
Coleman heard that Duaner and his cousin went to get something to eat at 1AM, in hindsight he wished he would have taken room service instead.
Exiting 62nd street, the accident occurred. He was not wearing his seatbelt, put his arm up to brace himself from the partition.
The injury is a severe seperation with torn ligaments.
Nady was upset about leaving, essentially a south florida cab driver sends him from a playoff bound team to the celler dwelling Pirates. The Mets should be better defensively in right field.
Roberto Hernandez said he's fully rested in a good place right now, they scaled back on him in the last few weeks in Pittsburg.
Milledge will get the games Nady ordinarily played. He will also fill in for Floyd as well. Coleman thinks they can get by and match the Nady numbers. Sanchez was a guy that surprised the Mets, and he pitched very well for them.
Giants said today, the Mets didnt put Milledge in a package for Jason Schmidt.
Discussing Glavine, he was not happy with being taken out early. Coleman said he thinks he lacks confidence right now. He needs to command things a bit better.
Coleman said he could see a situation when Pelfrey pitches tonight and goes back to the minors, so they can get Maine another start. Unless Pelfrey wows the Mets, he see them going with the veteran arms in the playoffs, Pedro, Glavine, Trachsel and El Duque.
Pitch count was down for Pedro last outing, which was a good sign. He's going to back out there on Thursday. He sees plenty of opportunites to scale back his starts to give him more rest in September.

Wow. Its been a long time since I felt this bad after a Mets loss. Its been a season of mostly good times and happy recaps but tonight felt like a punch in the gut. I am of the belief that you need to prove yourself against a team like the Red Sox. I know this is a short series, and its tough to judge this over a small sample but the Mets just looked outclassed over these past two games and I would be lying if I didn't say I was worried. Lets hope this is an abberation, and they can make the proper adjustments to prepare themselves next time they're put in the position where they need to step up and beat upper level competition. Its only the end of June but if the Mets plan on taking this season as far as it can go, they're gonna have to show they can hang with the big boys. Lets go over a few things…
Milledge. Maybe its a little overwhelming to throw a guy just out of AAA into a situation like this. I have to say though, I didn't really like his body language when Beltran saved his ass and nearly hurt himself diving for a ball Milledge should have caught. I might have misread it but it looked like he was uneffected. Carlos looked annoyed.
Pedro might have been a little too emotional, I hope thats the case and not something more. The only way to tell is to see how things go next time around. He didn't have it from the second pitch of the game on. It was really sad to watch, in a game where he could have made a nice statement.
Oliver continues to do a great job in long relief. Hats off to him for doing a great job at keeping the pen fresh as he eats up innings.
Mets get a F for their first big test against the Varsity. Heres to hoping they do better next time around. Theres plenty more games to play, plenty of time to learn from the lessons and make the changes necessary. It would be huge to see Glavine step up and stop this from being a real mess. Its tough to call it a must win tomorrow in the middle of the season with a huge lead, but it kind of is. For the sake of showing they're worth their salt and with the Highlanders on deck, this is a big game for keeping our pride.

Willie Randolph…
“I know the struggles we've had with the Braves in the past, but this
is a whole new team. We have a lot of new faces, We don't have too many guys who were around for the struggles. We're
going into this with a fresh outlook.”
“We've gotten off to the start we wanted. Now it gets down to this: We
have an understanding that the NL East championship is going to have to
go through Atlanta. To be the best, you have to beat the best. They've
been on top for a while. We have all the right tools. If we play good
baseball, we're going to win.”
Sounds like we've got a real battle on our hands, and the Mets seem ready to take on the challenge. Should be an interesting couple of days to say the least.
