After visiting with Dr. James Andrews, Tim Hudson received the news that he has severe ligament damage in his right elbow, and will most likely have to undergo Tommy John Surgery. Hudson will try to rehabilitate the elbow for a few weeks before making his final decision.
Hudson is just delaying the inevitable. That is a big blow to the Braves for not only the rest of this year, but much of 2009.
Sphere: Related ContentMLB.com is reporting that Tim Hudson received the worst news a pitcher could get today. His strained elbow has ligament damage, and depending on the severity of the injury, the pitcher might need season ending Tommy John Surgery. He is expected to meet with doctor James Andrews this week.
In other news, they placed 3B Chipper Jones on the DL with a strained hamstring.
Ouch, it’s not looking good for the Braves if they lose Hudson for the remainder of this year and all of ‘09. They would be looking at a completely revamped rotation next year if John Smoltz and Tom Glavine retire, and Mike Hampton leaves as a free agent.
