The Hot List

Here’s whats hot on Memorial Day weekend, other than your grill and the seat the Willie Randolph is currently residing in.

  • Matt over at Mets Blog asks who you want to manage the Mets.
  • Marty Noble dips into his mailbag on MLB.com and schools a few people on why motivation and execution is up to the players, not Willie Randolph.
  • Wayne Coffey talks about the Willie Randolph he knows and few others get a chance to see on The Score. A pretty sexy shot of Minka Kelly accompanies the article as a bonus.
  • Anthony DiComo looks at the later round of the upcoming draft, as the Mets look to restock their farm system, on MLB.com
  • Matthew Artus at Always Amazin takes a look at how interim managers have fared over the past 10 years.
  • And finally Ian O’Connor, who started this whole mess when he printed what Willie Randolph believed were off the record comments, writes at The Record that Randolph should not have to apologize for being honest.

Have a great Memorial Day folks. Dear Wilpons, please try not to overcook Willie Randolph while you’re raking him over the coals.

Here’s the buzz around the blogosphere today…

    • Phillies fans at Bugs and Cranks are still whining about the play at the plate last night. Even if Reyes was out, these things tend to even out. You get a call we get a call, get over it. This AP image, however, seems to look like Reyes made it in ahead of the tag.reyes

    • David Lennon at Newsday discusses the venom of the fans early this season and also talks about Mets pitching prospect Jon Niese who is off to a fine start this season. Niese is 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA in two starts for St. Lucie, with 10 strikeouts and one walk in 11 innings. He’s allowed only three hits, including a home run, and opponents are batting .083 against him.
    • Ted Berg of SNY interviews Nelson Figueroa, who happens to be a huge Mets fan, on Mets Blog.
    • Howard Megdal does a nice profile on Figueroa, “the King of Quadruple-A” in the New York Observer as well.
    • Fillip Bondy at the New York Daily News thinks the Phillies/Mets rivalry has surplanted the Braves/Mets rivalry.
    • Tracy Coppola at Coppola Sisters is sick and tired of Carlos Beltran being ‘unclutch’

    Who Is Hot Foot?

Hot Foot was founded by a group of life long friends who also happen to be die hard Mets fans. Hot Foot comes from the great 1986 Mets relief pitcher Roger McDowell who would use a wad of gum to stick a roll of cigarettes to the back of unsuspecting teammates shoes and light them on fire, thus a Hot Foot. Hot Foot is inspired by the same rock and roll baseball mentality of Roger and the 86 Mets, and uncensored commentary with news, notes, rumors and analysis revolving around the world of the Amazin New York Mets.
