MiLB.com takes a look back at the Mets minor league team highlights of 2007. Among the best moments are…
According to TCPalm the three 'internal' finalists for the 2007 Mets third base job are Gary Carter, Ken Oberkfell, and Howard Johnson.
New York Mets manager Willie Randolph and general manager Omar Minaya could make the decision before the annual winter meetings, which begin Monday in Orlando.
“If (Johnson) gets it, hey, great,” Carter said. “He's as deserving as I feel I am.”
HoJo said “If I don't get it, I certainly hope Gary gets it. And I feel like, if I don't get it and Gary doesn't get it, I hope Ken gets it.”
Carter said he might consider coming back as the St. Lucie manager, but he could be promoted to the Triple-A manager if Oberkfell is named the major-league team's third-base coach.
I wish the Mets would consider Rickey Henderson for the third base job. I think it would be great bringing back. Not only do I feel he would do well as a third base coach, but also he could help out Jose Reyes and the other young players on the team whether its stealing bsaes or working on their hitting. If Rickey doesnt get the job though, id be fine bringing up the Kid, Obie, or HoJo, with Gary Carter being my preference.

The minor league playoffs edition of Baseball Prospectus Future Shock features Jesus Flores on their list of standout postseason stars.
Jesus Flores, c, High Class A St.
Lucie (Mets)
The St. Lucie Mets cruised to the Florida State League
championship over the weekend, completing a three-game sweep of Dunedin
(Blue Jays) and going a perfect 5-0 in the post-season. In Sunday's 6-2
clincher,
Flores went 4-for-4 with a double and a stolen base to complete a
playoff run
in which he reached base 11 times; he's coming off a regular season in
which he
hit .266/.335/.487, tied the league lead with 21 home runs, and
finished
fourth in slugging. While the Mets felt strongly about Flores'
potential, this
is still a massive breakout for the 21-year-old Venezuelan who hit a Bill
Plummer-esque .216/.250/.339 last year at Low Class A Hagerstown.
From StLucieMets.com…
The St. Lucie Mets were perfect in the playoffs. After sweeping the
Palm Beach Cardinals 2-0 in the division series, they completed a three
game sweep of the Dunedin Blue Jays, en route to capturing their fifth
Florida State League Championship.
Jose
Sanchez earned his second win of the playoffs throwing six and
two-thirds innings, allowing just four walks, while striking out four.
Carlos Muniz earned the save. Muniz saved all five of the Mets playoff
wins.
The Mets were paced at the plate by catcher Jesus Flores
who went 4-for-4 with an RBI. Corey Coles had three hits while Fernando
Martinez collected two hits and Jose Coronado, JE Cruz, Alhaji Turay
and Jonathan Malo all chipped in with one.
Congratulations to manager Gary Carter and the St. Lucie Mets!!!
