We at Hot Foot are happy to learn of this development as it was thought earlier that Gary would be limited to in studio SNY duty. Congratulations Gary! The SNY press release is below…

SNY’s Gary Cohen to Make Guest Appearances in WFAN’s Radio Booth During Mets Playoff Games
[New York] September 28, 2006 – SportsNet New York (SNY) today
announced the network’s postseason coverage of the 2006 National League
East Division Champion New York Mets. On Monday, October 2nd, SNY’s
postseason coverage will commence at 7:00pm with the premiere of Mets
Postseason Live!, a talk show focused on the Mets playoff run –
featuring Ron Darling, Gary Cohen, Matt Yallof and other baseball
experts. Mets Postseason Live! will air live in the plaza outside of
SNY’s street-level studio located at 51st Street and 6th Avenue.
SNY’s postseason coverage will also include in-depth pre- and
post-game shows book-ending every Mets playoff game with appearances
from Ron Darling, Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez, Chris Cotter and Matt
Yallof – highlighted by on-site reports from each game. SNY will also
carry live coverage of the New York Mets Postseason Rally at noon,
which will take place outside of SNY’s studio on 51st Street and 6th
Avenue on Tuesday, October 3rd [Fans can enter the Mets Rally at
Seventh Avenue and 51st Street]. Coverage of the Mets Postseason Rally
will include video highlights from the 2006 Mets National League East
Division championship season; music performances; and appearances by
Mets legends Mookie Wilson and Jerry Koosman, who, respectively, helped
lead the Mets to their 1986 and 1969 World Championships.
As the Mets enter the playoffs, the outstanding broadcasting duo of Mex and Cohen will be replaced by the deplorable Buck and McCarver.
We post this picture in memory of Gary and Mex who will likely be relegated to SNY in studio work, as we have to endure the broadcasting stylings of the Fox network. I personally want to thank both of them for making this the best broadcasting season the Mets have had on television since i've been a fan.
The Mets have always had a fine radio presence with Cohen before he moved to SNY, Gary Thorne, Bob Murphy, Ed Coleman and Howie Rose, but now the Mets finally have a reason for people to have the volume turned up when watching the games on television. The Mets SNY booth is one of, if not the most informative and entertaining in baseball.
Until next year, we wear our rally caps in your honor.

For your reading pleasure, Zoe from Pick Me Up Some Mets has some Gary and Mex memorable moments from this past season:
Zisk Magazine has some great moments as well.
Chris Cotter on SNY reported that Cliff Floyd was trying to catch a flight to Binghamton to avoid the bad weather that could delay his return from PSL. Florida is expecting tropical storms and a possible hurricane.
It would only make sense that Pedro Martinez would do the same.
Sphere: Related ContentBob Raissman gives kudos to Ron Darling for his open critique of Rick Peterson's tendancy to be long winded when working with his pitchers.
“No, I would not have liked that. It's hard enough out there in the
middle of battle worried about getting outs,” Darling said. “It's hard
to take in all that information.”
Darling said a pitching coach should limit his advice to a brief yap -
like letting a pitcher know if his front shoulder is flying open.
“A lot of information (like Peterson imparted to Maine) would've went
in one ear and out the other,” Darling said. “Your heart rate is up,
you're angry, and all those emotions are kicking in. And for me, I'm
trying to get rid of those emotions. I'm trying to get level-headed,
thinking about strike one (and) trying to get outs.”
Cohen: “Sometimes all you need is: 'Where are you going for dinner tonight?'”
Raissman goes on to say that SNY is a breath of fresh air for allowing opinions that don't toe the party line, much like the other network in town.
Whether it be about pitching (in this case a pitching coach) or how a
manager should approach handling Soriano (he got into that topic
Sunday), Darling not only has provided original insights, but he has
helped to make SNY's Mets telecasts edgy and unique.
Mets fans tuned into Mike Piazza return to Shea on SNY in droves. The Padres-Mets game pulled a 5.7 rating (over 420,000 households) and was the highest rated Mets telecast on a regional sports network since the Sept. 21, 2001 Mets-Braves game.
That game, broadcast on FSNY, featured perhaps Piazza's signature Met moment, when he homered off Steve Karsay to lift the Mets over the Braves in the first game played in the city after 9/11.

If anyone knows the wearabouts of Keith Hernandez, please holla at a foot. We are worried, our favorite Met broadcaster has been MIA for awhile. I like Darling and all, he's adequate, but he's no Mex.
I'm guessing either PETA got to him or a rival pimp decided he was honing in on some out of pocket lady of the night. Light up a smoke and hope he returns to us safely.
UPDATE : Our prayers have been answered. Andrew from Middletown contacted Hot Foot via AOL Instant Messenger ( you can reach the foot at SoupSoupAD , don't ask ) and told us he heard Darling and Cohen mention during today's game that Keith is on vacation and would be returning to broadcast for this evenings Mets and Braves matchup.
Hot Foot was relieved to hear Mex would be returning after what seemed like a long haitus. Lets hope its chilly out so Keith breaks out the chinchilla.
Mike and The Mad Dog, the hacks they are, tried to float a rumor Keith was fired. Keith called in today and set those blowhards straight.
