Update: Merely a Flesh Wound

Adam Rubin reports in his blog that Ruben Gotay’s injury is not as bad as initially reported, and is merely a sprain.

Good news for Gotay, bad news for Anderson Hernandez.

Farm Report : Dave Williams Shines

Here's some highlights from yesterday's minor league action courtesy of Toby's Mets Minor League Report

Dave Williams struck out seven in five scoreless innings Tuesday in his second start for the Rookie GCL Mets.

Williams
was placed on Triple-A Norfolk's DL in mid-June with a strained
shoulder. He seems ready to rejoin Norfolk's rotation now, but the
injury has left him with little chance of a callup to the Mets before
September.

AAA

Willie Collazo dealt seven shutout
innings with five strikeouts to earn his third win in Norfolk.

Tim Lavigne struck out four
in his two innings for his third save as a Tide.
Rueben Gotay’s hit his first HR as a Met

AA

Miguel Perez allowed just one run on six hits over eight innings.
He struck out seven and walked three.
Michel Abreu was 3-3 with a three run double.
Chase
Lambin
reached base all four times he went to the plate in a 2-2 night with
a double, and 2 walks.
Carlos Gomez ran his hit streak to 18 straight
with a 1-3 night with an RBI.

A+

Corey Coles doubled in a 2-4 night
Jamar Hill drilled a solo HR in another 2-4 night.

A-

Jon Niese was strong again, dealing 5.1
innings with six strikeouts. He gave up
one run on three hits and a walk for his 10th win of the year,
lowering his ERA to 3.42.
Jesus Gamero drove home five runs in a
2-3 afternoon with a sac fly

Who Is Hot Foot?

Hot Foot was founded by a group of life long friends who also happen to be die hard Mets fans. Hot Foot comes from the great 1986 Mets relief pitcher Roger McDowell who would use a wad of gum to stick a roll of cigarettes to the back of unsuspecting teammates shoes and light them on fire, thus a Hot Foot. Hot Foot is inspired by the same rock and roll baseball mentality of Roger and the 86 Mets, and uncensored commentary with news, notes, rumors and analysis revolving around the world of the Amazin New York Mets.
