Castro Is Back

According to Mike Nichols of Mets Blog, Ramon Castro has been activated and Raul Casanova has been DFA’d.

Also, WFAN has been in contact with the Mets and they said tonight’s game will be played despite the inclement weather.

Plus, LoHud Mets Blog has some Pedro Martinez info:

Martinez threw 60 pitches in a bullpen session at Port St. Lucie.

Said Omar Minaya: “We’re very encouraged by the progress that’s being made.”

Castro Hurt Again

According to Matt Cerrone of Mets Blog Ramon Castro left a minor league rehab game in Port St. Lucie with an apparent leg injury.

Yesterday I posted a report from George King of the NY Post that recently DFA’d Yankee catcher Chad Moeller might draw some interest from the Mets. Today, according to SI.com Jon Heyman, Moeller cleared waivers and was reclaimed by the Yankees.

This is really too bad. Obviously the Mets miss Castro’s bat off the bench but I also think they miss him in the clubhouse. His sense of humor in the dugout was clear to all observers. Keeping guys loose is something you hear about when teams talk about intangibles and chemistry.

Alou Possible Back by Braves

According to Adam Rubin, Moises Alou is looking likely for the upcoming Braves series. He went 2 for 7 and played 7 innings in left in his most recent extended spring training game.

I’m officially restarting the Moises Alou injury pool, and saying…the Pirates series.

Ramon Castro caught four innings and went 2 for 3.

For those who have forgotten, Ramon Castro is our backup catcher, and bears a vague resemeblence to Shrek, except he isn’t green. Well, he isn’t usually green.

Orlando Hernendez, still wearing a boot. Over/under on his return is set at: never.

Castro Slowly Making Progress

Ramon Castro caught five innings in a extended spring training game, but according to Adam Rubin is still not running at full speed. Or at least what passes at full speed for Ramon Castro. Castro has been sidelined since the end of spring training with a hamstring injury.

Remember Ramon Castro? Well you won’t, cause he’ll be out awhile longer. Rumor is, he reinjured himself performing a stunt for the upcoming Shrek 4. Was shut down after running earlier today.

Moises Alou? Still not even playing in the minor leagues. So..awhile. He did go 1 for 4 in a extended rehab game. Possible to be in A level ball soon.

Is Jose Valentin even still with the organization? Did he retire? Is he hurt? I kind of forgot about him.

Pedro Martinez is hard at work in the Dominican. He says he’ll be back in May. Omar says June. So at the very least, his boasting and quote giving ability is back at All Star level.

And as always, finally El Duque. Still wearing a boot.  So enjoy Nelson for awhile longer, its a good story and as long as it remains so, the quiet El Duque retirement press release will be painless a month or two from now.

    Who Is Hot Foot?

Hot Foot was created by a group of life long friends who also happen to be die hard Mets fans. The name Hot Foot comes from the great 1986 Mets relief pitcher Roger McDowell who would use a wad of gum to stick a roll of cigarettes to the back of unsuspecting teammates shoes and light them on fire, thus a Hot Foot. Hot Foot is inspired by the same rock and roll baseball mentality of Roger and the 86 Mets, and uncensored commentary with news, notes, rumors and analysis revolving around the world of the Amazin New York Mets.
