According to the Wilmington News Journal, the Philadelphia Phillies have offered their former second-round pick Randy Wolf a contract.
Wolf turned down a multi-year contract offer from the Phillies just a year ago and ended up signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers declined a $9 million option on his contract, making him a free agent.
Wolf, 31, went 9-6 with a 4.73 ERA in 18 starts for the Dodgers last season before straining his shoulder that ended his season after requiring surgery. Wolf, was with the Phillies between 1999-2006, went 69-60 in 194 games for the team.

Rowand will likely command something in the neighborhood of a six years, $14 million per year contract in the wake of Torii Hunter’s massive deal.
Zolecki writes that the Phillies feel they have some depth in the outfield to cushion Rowand’s loss, and thinks righthander Hiroki Kuroda is a better investment. A rotation that includes Adam Eaton and his 6.29 ERA along with a 45 year old Jamie Moyer is certainly in need of an upgrade.

Kuroda was 12-8 with a 3.56 earned run average for the Hiroshima Carp last season. He led Japan’s Central League with a 1.85 earned run average in 2006 and has 74 complete games in 244 career starts and will not require a posting fee.
The Dodgers have interest as well, reports the LA Daily News.
Koruda is expected to command a three-year deal between $21 and $24 million.
