After a earlier rain out washed away “Jets Night at Shea” it has now been rescheduled for Tuesday, July 8. Joe Klecko, Wesley Walker, Greg Buttle, Emerson Boozer, Randy Beverly and John Schmitt will be in attendance. For more info on the activities planned check out Bart Hubbuch at the NY Post’s Mets Blog.
Also, tune in to SNY at 6:00PM tonight and check out the documentary “Playing for Peanuts,” Jack Curry of the NY Times writes:
Anyone who watched Wally Backman play for the Mets and who has heard about his sad, twisted story will probably enjoy the film.
The website for Playing For Peanuts describes the Doc thusly:

Brian Bassett and I will be live blogging the NFL Draft on Giants Football Blog and The Jets Blog, starting around mid-day on Saturday.
We’re hoping to get interviews, Q&A, video, etc, from SNY on-air talent, newly-drafted players and, of course, from myself and Brian as well.
Also, at SNY.tv, Sunil Joshi will be live blogging his experience from inside the draft, at Radio City Music Hall
I hope you’ll join us, as we will be running a live blog session on Giants Football Blog where we will be taking your questions, posting your comments, and providing running commentary during the draft.

The Mets will honor the NY Jets as part of their ongoing salute to Shea getting exploded at years end. The NY Jets, prior to being forced to play at Giants stadium, were once forced to play at Shea Stadium. For 20 years. The salute will occur on April 28th (Pirates @ Mets), and all fans wearing Jets jerseys will get a sympathy hug from Giants fans.
No word on if Chad Pennington will suffer a season ending shoulder injury to celebrate the occasion.
Sphere: Related ContentTom Rock on his blog for Newsday tosses out the idea of having the Jets playing one final game at Shea before they tear the old lady down.
The game would have to take place in November or December, with the Mets hopefully playing deep into October.
The Yankees are considering having the Rangers play the final event at Yankees Stadium.
I love the idea and I hope they do it. While I was a Billy Joel fan growing up, the Jets are more a part of Shea Stadium history, as they once played at Shea from 1964 to 1983.
