Some of the highlights of Mitchells report include :

  • “For more than a decade there has been widespread anabolic steroid use”
  • Checks and money orders, mailing receipts or shipments, statements of other witnesses used to back up Radomski’s allegations. Much of this was found in Radomski’s seized telephone records.
  • Brian McNamee, a former New York Yankees trainer who worked with Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte, was interviewed three times by Mitchell, with a personal lawyer and federal law enforcement officials in the room.
  • Each player named was invited to meet with Mitchell if their name came up in his investigation. Mitchell said almost all current players refused to meet with him.
  • Each club has had a player involved.
  • Players were given a ‘heads-up’ to when drug tests would take place.
  • Mitchell wrote he was against Selig disciplining players named in the report, or not, for past violations of baseball’s rules against using performance-enhancing substances “except in those cases where he determines that the conduct is so serious that discipline is necessary to maintain the integrity of the game. I make this recommendation fully aware that there are valid arguments both for and against it.”

No Active Mets On Mitchell List

Matthew Cerrone on Mets Blog cites an article by Bob Klapisch in the Bergan Record that reports no active Mets are named in the Mitchell Report that will be officially announced at 2PM this afternoon. However, Klapisch writes that several prominent Yankees will be named.

MLB commissioner Bud Selig will hold a follow-up news conference around 4:30 pm.

Update: Mitchell Report Timeline

The Associated Press is reporting that tomorrow press conference will be held at 2pm tomorrow and the list will be posted on MLB.com shortly after. Bud Selig will not be attending Mitchell’s press conference, but will hold his own about 2 1/2 hours later.

Let the games begin. I don’t know, but I just have a feeling the list isn’t going to be as shocking as some people are expecting. Hot Foot will be updating you with information as it becomes available.

Mitchell Report To Name Close To 50 Players

Michael Schmidt in The New York Times reports that the Mitchell Report, which will be released tomorrow, will name close to 50 active and former Major League Players who were linked to steroid use.

Many of the names in the report are directly tied to information provided to Mitchell’s investigators by Kirk Radomski, a former bat boy and clubhouse attendant for the Mets.

An important fact that many news outlets seem to overlook is that Ramdomski worked for the Mets from 1985 through 1995, and admitted to having supplied performance enhancing drugs only between 1995 and 2005.

Who Is Hot Foot?

Hot Foot was founded by a group of life long friends who also happen to be die hard Mets fans. Hot Foot comes from the great 1986 Mets relief pitcher Roger McDowell who would use a wad of gum to stick a roll of cigarettes to the back of unsuspecting teammates shoes and light them on fire, thus a Hot Foot. Hot Foot is inspired by the same rock and roll baseball mentality of Roger and the 86 Mets, and uncensored commentary with news, notes, rumors and analysis revolving around the world of the Amazin New York Mets.
