  • The Yankees have offered RP LaTroy Hawkins a one-year, $3.5 million contract.
  • The Royals are not currently interested in OF Sammy Sosa as previously reported.
  • Recently released second baseman Jorge Cantu appears close to signing with the Florida Marlins. The team has also offered RP Scott Nestor to the Phillies for veteran infielder Wes Helms. • The Toronto Blue Jays are waiting to hear back from former Mets catcher Paul Lo Duca, who currently has a one-year contract offer on the table.

  • Giants Showing Interest In Hideki Matsui

Bob Elliott of the Toronto Sun reports that the San Francisco Giants and the New York Yankees have discussed left fielder Hideki Matsui for a starter. Matsui does have a complete no-trade clause.

Matsui, 33, went .285 with 25 HRs, 103 RBIs while scoring 100 runs. He currently has $26 million left on his contract over the next two seasons. His deal also includes a no-trade clause.

Update 2:35PM - Peter Abraham of the Journal News has picked this up as well. He notes that Matsui also would become San Francisco’s best power threat with Bonds gone. Abraham suggests a package of SP Noah Lowry and INF Rich Aurilia or Lowry and RP Kevin Correia.

    Who Is Hot Foot?

Hot Foot was founded by a group of life long friends who also happen to be die hard Mets fans. Hot Foot comes from the great 1986 Mets relief pitcher Roger McDowell who would use a wad of gum to stick a roll of cigarettes to the back of unsuspecting teammates shoes and light them on fire, thus a Hot Foot. Hot Foot is inspired by the same rock and roll baseball mentality of Roger and the 86 Mets, and uncensored commentary with news, notes, rumors and analysis revolving around the world of the Amazin New York Mets.
