Chris Cotter on SNY reported that Cliff Floyd was trying to catch a flight to Binghamton to avoid the bad weather that could delay his return from PSL. Florida is expecting tropical storms and a possible hurricane.
It would only make sense that Pedro Martinez would do the same.

playing in rehab games today in Port St. Lucie and could be back by the
weekend, reports Newsday.

Willie Randolph gave an update on Cliff Floyd's injury
Cliff Floyd was put on the 15 day disabled list with a sore achilles. He pinch hit last night so he was not eligable to be retroactively placed on the DL, so he will be unavailable under mid August.
OF Michael Tucker was called up from AAA Norfolk to take his spot on the roster.

Cameron made his mark with his million dollar smile, his ability to loudly crack jokes with everyone in the clubhouse, and his magnificent glove. Cameron still stays on top of the Mets and stays in touch with one of his favorite people, Cliff Floyd, even though they're not a locker away from each other anymore…
Last week, Cameron
told a reporter that he still watches virtually every Mets game. Floyd
was unaware of that, but “he's always giving me messages, letting me
know how bad I am.”
David Wright was also a friend of Cameron's and was sad to see him go, hoping to grab lunch or dinner with Cameron while he's in town.
“I think he's a great teammate; I think he's a great leader,” Wright said of Cameron. “He was great to me.”
Added Floyd: “It's just a shame he wasn't here long enough to enjoy what we're going through.”
Sphere: Related ContentESPN reports that Cliff Floyd hopes to be back on the field for Tuesday's
series opener against the Padres at Shea Stadium, but tests on Sunday
revealed enough irritation that he might have to sit longer.
“Tests show that I have some fluid in there and inflammation and thickening,” he told the New York Post.
Floyd may be available to pinch hit, but he said that playing the field was difficult.
“We'll
evaluate it on Tuesday,” Floyd said. “Hopefully I'll be able to do some
things that's going to allow me to go out and play, play the way I know
how to play.
“I don't think I'm ready to play.”
The state of Floyd's foot is likely to have hastened the Mets need to acquire Ledee.

Ledee give the Mets the a left-handed bat off the bench now they were looking for now that
switch-hitting Jose Valentin, and with Cliff Floyd's injured achilles, outfielder Endy
Chavez are playing regularly.
The New York Times reports that Cliff Floyd
said he had tests yesterday morning that revealed no further damage but
indicated a buildup of fluid around the tendon. Cliff has been playing Madden 2007 with Lastings Milledge to pass the time.
Cliff Floyd was pulled from yesterdays game after the first inning, when he aggrevated his Achilles tendon running down a ball hit off the wall in left field.
The Mets listed him as day-to-day. His Achilles tendon has been a recurring injury for Floyd. He was pulled on July 30 because of the tendon. Cliff also spent 23 days on the disabled list in June due to a sprained ankle.
“I'd rather not put my team in jeopardy. I'll go check it out (this morning). But I've gotten to the point where I've got to be smart. I kind of really wanted to play. I felt pretty good coming here.”
Baseball Prospectus highlights that Cliff Floyd's luck has seemed to start changing. As we all observed, early in the season Cliff was getting good swings and hitting the ball with authority but he couldnt seem to get anything to drop. An indication of things turning his way is his batting average for balls in play…
April .197May .270June .286July .357
Over the past 30 days, Floyd is batting .310, with a .420 OBA, and .595
slugging. He's averaged a home run every 14 at bats in that period.
Over the past 7 games, Cliff has hit .375, with a .483 OBA, and an
ungodly .833 slugging percentage. He has averaged a home run every 8 at
bats over the past 7 games.
Thats quite a nice rise for Cliff, lets hope Pedro keeps swatting him with that little plastic wiffle ball bat.

Sphere: Related ContentDaily News Live on the home of the Mets network, SNY, has just reported, that LF Uncle Cliff Floyd has been recalled from the DL, and as expected rookie Lastings Milledge, has been sent back down to AAA. During Milledge's short stay, in 24 games he batted .233 with 3 HR's, 12 RBI's, and just 1 SB. Milledge has been slumping both offensively and defensively over the last couple of weeks. Personally, the Metstoot is happy to see Uncle Cliff back in blue and orange. He may just be the medicine that the Mets need to get back to their winning ways. Round 2 of the Mets vs Yanks starts tonight, and I can feel the excitement brewing already.

Endy Chavez is usually used as a fill in outfielder by Willie Randolph, but with the injury to Cliff Floyd and the desire by Willie to get Endy some work in between days while resting his other outfielders, Chavez has put up impressive numbers both behind the plate and in the field. Perhaps the most impressive number is his amount of outfield assists. When he nailed Reed Johnson at second trying
to stretch a single yesterday, it was his eighth assist of the season, trailing
only Alfonso Soriano and Brad Hawpe (10 each), both starting outfielders for their respective teams.
