The great and powerful Metstradamus extolls the virtues of the speedy one, Mr. Jose Reyes and his 14.81 second lap around the bases last night. I was at Liberty Bar and Grill with one eye on the NFL kickoff and the other on the Mets game. We quickly focused our attention on the Mets, and watched as it appeared Jose had knocked it out of the park, but our excitement grew to a frenzy as the prospect of an inside the park home run grew. As Jose slide past home plate, the entire bar, packed with football fans, erupted in celebration.

Sphere: Related ContentEarlier today we posted a link to Metsblog where Matt recalled a comment by Rob Neyer of ESPN.com calling Jose Reyes as “one of the worst everyday players in baseball.” Here are Neyer's comments on Reyes a little over a year later…
I happen to think the jury's still out on Reyes'
defense, but the power's there so I don't have any argument with the
guy.
In context, though, Reyes' 99 runs in
2005 really aren't impressive at all. This season is different, at
least so far. If he does maintain his OBP and his power — or close to
it — Reyes certainly will rank as one of the top leadoff men of this
young century. And he's only 23.
Thats quite a change of heart by Neyer.

Mets Fan In Oklahoma put together a great article about the Mets early domination in Run Differential. For us non-geeks out there, this is Runs Scored minus Runs Allowed. The Mets lead the league in this important category. Check out Steve's article here.
By the way, if you're ever looking for the best pre-game weather forcast, Steve is your man in that department as well.
Sphere: Related ContentVinny from Metsville is not happy. Vinny can't get SNY and I want to help him out, find out how you can help here
I thought I'd already posted this information here, but I guess not.
Here's the phone number for the office of Bob Burns, SusCom's general
manager for the local area:
845-531-3924
I strongly suggest that you all flood this man's office with
complaints, as it is he as much as anyone who is responsible for the
predicament we find ourselves in. Your call will be fielded by a
secretary named Rose, so just ask to speak to Mr. Burns or to be passed
to his voicemail. And if you get a chance to speak to the man himself,
ask him how it feels to be the man responsible for stealing the Mets
from Putnam County.
Go get em Vinny, the Foot's got your back!
