Here is what some of our favorite bloggers are talking about today…

The great and powerful Metstradamus extolls the virtues of the speedy one, Mr. Jose Reyes and his 14.81 second lap around the bases last night. I was at Liberty Bar and Grill with one eye on the NFL kickoff and the other on the Mets game. We quickly focused our attention on the Mets, and watched as it appeared Jose had knocked it out of the park, but our excitement grew to a frenzy as the prospect of an inside the park home run grew. As Jose slide past home plate, the entire bar, packed with football fans, erupted in celebration.

Brooklyn Met Fan has a great recap of last nights action, and some great pictures as well. I wonder how he affords his own staff photographer, we're barely able to keep the snack closet stocked.

Crosstown Rivals is impressed.

The Eddie Kranepool Society
tries to remind the Dodgers they're still in a pennant race.

Its Flashback Friday @ Faith and Fear In Flushing! Today's entry brings us back to August 17, the edge of heaven, when fans began to wonder when the Mets might clinch.

The Metropolitans, as always, have a ton of tasty tidbits for us, including a push to get Willie signed up to a new contract.

Mike's Mets puts a nice little bow on last nights action.

Toasty Joe
is so giddy about the death of the Braves, he has the final post in his trilogy today. Revel and enjoy, Joe, we've got 10+ years of futility to celebrate ending. Savor it, roll around it in.

    Neyer on Reyes Today

Earlier today we posted a link to Metsblog where Matt recalled a comment by Rob Neyer of ESPN.com calling Jose Reyes as “one of the worst everyday players in baseball.” Here are Neyer's comments on Reyes a little over a year later…

Let me be very clear about this: If Reyes can maintain a .350
on-base percentage, he's one hell of a player. I would argue that
    almost any shortstop with a .350 on-base percentage — if he's got a
decent glove and/or has more than just a touch of power — is going to
be a hell of a player.

I happen to think the jury's still out on Reyes'
defense, but the power's there so I don't have any argument with the
    guy.
I would not, on the other hand, equate scoring runs with
effectiveness. If you play 161 games and lead off in nearly all of them
    – as Reyes did last season — you're going to score an impressive
number of runs almost by default.

In context, though, Reyes' 99 runs in
2005 really aren't impressive at all. This season is different, at
least so far. If he does maintain his OBP and his power — or close to
it — Reyes certainly will rank as one of the top leadoff men of this
young century. And he's only 23.

Thats quite a change of heart by Neyer.

    Help Vinny Watch The Mets

Vinny from Metsville is not happy. Vinny can't get SNY and I want to help him out, find out how you can help here

I thought I'd already posted this information here, but I guess not.
Here's the phone number for the office of Bob Burns, SusCom's general
    manager for the local area:

    845-531-3924

I strongly suggest that you all flood this man's office with
complaints, as it is he as much as anyone who is responsible for the
predicament we find ourselves in. Your call will be fielded by a
secretary named Rose, so just ask to speak to Mr. Burns or to be passed
to his voicemail. And if you get a chance to speak to the man himself,
ask him how it feels to be the man responsible for stealing the Mets
    from Putnam County.

If he's not going to give us the channel, let's at least get the satisfaction of making his life miserable.

Go get em Vinny, the Foot's got your back!

    Who Is Hot Foot?

Hot Foot was founded by a group of life long friends who also happen to be die hard Mets fans. Hot Foot comes from the great 1986 Mets relief pitcher Roger McDowell who would use a wad of gum to stick a roll of cigarettes to the back of unsuspecting teammates shoes and light them on fire, thus a Hot Foot. Hot Foot is inspired by the same rock and roll baseball mentality of Roger and the 86 Mets, and uncensored commentary with news, notes, rumors and analysis revolving around the world of the Amazin New York Mets.
