Pettitte Admits Using HGH

Heres a quote from Pettitte:

“In 2002 I was injured. I had heard that human growth hormone could promote faster healing for my elbow,”

“I felt an obligation to get back to my team as soon as possible. For this reason, and only this reason, for two days I tried human growth hormone. Though it was not against baseball rules, I was not comfortable with what I was doing, so I stopped.

This is it — two days out of my life; two days out of my entire career, when I was injured and on the disabled list,” he said. “I wasn’t looking for an edge. I was looking to heal.”

Mets Balk At Santana Offer

Over at Metsblog.com, Matthew Cerrone cites Jon Heyman of SI.com, saying the Mets balked at the price of 4 pitching prospects plus Carlos Gomez or Fernando Martinez for Johan Santana.

Im assuming the pitching prospects would be Humber, Mulvey, Niese, Pelfrey, and Guerra. The only one i would hesitate to deal is Guerra, just because he has so much upside as a 19 year old kid. If im Omar, I pull the trigger on Gomez plus the above 4, Keeping Martinez and Guerra Around.

Appearing in 62 games last year, Hawkins compiled a 3.42 ERA in 55.1 innings

From what I saw of Hawkins in the playoffs, he seems to be back to his old form. Decent Sign for the Yanks.

    Who Is Hot Foot?

Hot Foot was founded by a group of life long friends who also happen to be die hard Mets fans. Hot Foot comes from the great 1986 Mets relief pitcher Roger McDowell who would use a wad of gum to stick a roll of cigarettes to the back of unsuspecting teammates shoes and light them on fire, thus a Hot Foot. Hot Foot is inspired by the same rock and roll baseball mentality of Roger and the 86 Mets, and uncensored commentary with news, notes, rumors and analysis revolving around the world of the Amazin New York Mets.
