Newsday is reporting that if he stays healthy, and the Mets were interested in picking up his option, Moises Alou would be willing to return next season. According to Alou:
If the Mets were to decide bringing Alou back is too risky, he says he would retire rather than seek a position with another team.
This is definitely worth at least considering for Omar. If Castillo is convinced to stay, we still have the potential to lose both catchers and Green to free agency, and Glavine to retirement. All signs are still pointing towards Lo Duca and Green both being allowed to walk, and even if Castro returns he's still just a backup, meaning a decent left fielder for one more year, though injury prone, would allow the organization to give more time to Gomez to learn. When he's healthy he's still performing, and worse case he platoons with Endy.
Thats right folks, they're just both so excited, cause they're reunited: Ralph Kiner will join Tim McCarver in the booth tomorrow, if only for just one inning. Kiner and Tim worked together for 16 years, ending in 1998, and will have perhaps one last fling on the Fox Saturday game.
Finally, something to make a Fox game worth watching.

After slowly giving up runs to end up down 6-1, the Mets came back in sixth by scoring six runs to go up 7-6. The inning had just three hits, plus an error by the Pads, but they also walked two, including a bases loaded walk to score a run. Green added a two RBI single, and Marlon Anderson pinch hit a three run homerun.
Wagner blew the save giving up two, and then Hoffman blew the save to follow it. Reyes and Castillo both singled off him, then did a double steal, bringing Reyes to 68. Wright hit a sac fly to tie it up.
Gonzalez homered in the 10th off of Heilman for the win.
Beltran walked twice and doubled, Wright had two singles a walk and two stolen bases, a top two errors. The two best closers in the league each blew a save. Bench homeruns. Rallys. Crazyness.
I'm spent. Goodnight Mets Nation.

Sphere: Related ContentThe Mets look to take the series today as they face the Padres one last time.
Todays pitching matchup is again a bit lopsided, but now in our favor. Tommy Glavine, Mr 301, takes the mound. Tom's 11-6, 4.12 ERA. Glavine has won his last four decisions, and gave up just one run in his last start. He's gone at least six innings in his last five starts, with 3 or less runs. He's given up just one walk in each of his last three. He has yet to face the Padres this year. He faces Germano, who's last win came on July 15th, and has lost his last four decisions. He's 6-7, 4.18 ERA, and has yet to face the Mets.
lineup
SS Reyes
2B Castillo
3B Wright
CF Beltran
1B Delgado
LF Alou
RF Green
C Alomar
P Glavine
Beltran is now 5 for 7 in the series, with 8 RBIs. Reyes meanwhile, though only 3 for 10, has stolen four bases off the Padres, and 14 from them in his career. Green starts today, one can assume because he's actually faced Germano, getting two hits in three at bats, including a double. Alomar catches, hopefully for the last time.
Game time is 7:10, catch it on SNY, WFAN, and as always mosey on by the Hot Foot Bleachers, where we're all serving out a rehab assignment.
Sphere: Related ContentPaul Lo Duca will play some rehab games. He's scheduled to play tonight and tomorrow with the Brooklyn Cyclones. Lo Duca has been sidelines with a hamstring injury since August 10th.
Pedro Martinez's next rehab start is looking like it'll be with AA Binghamton. The game will take place in Trenton.
Moises Alou, is not currently injured. Team trainers say its mainly due to a change in his exercise routine, and that he's locked in a heavily padded room filled with pillows between games.

Jake Peavy did what Jake Peavy does. He struck out 11 Mets over 6 innings, allowing just 2 runs. Unfortantely for the Mets, Brian Lawrence is not Peavy. Lawrence gave up four runs, walked four, and gave up seven hits in five innings. Adding to the Mets woes were Mota, who gave up three runs of his own in the seventh inning, in his second inning of relief.
David Wright walked. A lot. He went 0 for 1 with 4 walks and two stolen bases, one part of a double steal, another due to defensive indifference. Beltran added three more RBIs, 8 now for the series, going 2 for 4 with a double.
The Mets attempted a comeback in the 9th again, but fell short. Pinch hitting Marlon Anderson had a lead off double. He was followed by a pinch hit single by Conine to score. Reyes moved him over, and he advanced to third on an error that left Castillo safe on first. A strange dropped pop up resulted in a fielders choice that scored Conine. And Beltran's single scored Wright. Potential tying run Delgado went down on strikes to end it, oddly enough on the Anniversary of Casey at the Bat. There is No Joy in Metsville, Mighty Carlos has Struck Out.
Peavy just dominated. There's a reason he's 2nd in the NL in ERA. And you can't expect Hoffman to blow two games in a row. Five met hits tonight, the fact that the score was as close as it was is amazing. Delgado, Mike D, Alou and General Millz were a combined 0 for 16. Milledge struck out four times. Delgado and DiFelice 3 each.
Jose Reyes stole three bases (so far) to bring him to 67 for the season, including a double steal with Wright that allowed both to score on a Beltran double. He now holds the Met single season steals record, which was previously 66.
He was not congratulated by any lady fans on field however. Sorry Jose.
Sphere: Related ContentOver at Metsblog, the King of All Mets Blogs, voting has opened for All Time Mets Starting Pitchers. As a service to you, the readers, we're going to go beyond the numbers to help you vote smart.
Tom Seaver: AKA, the Franchise. The only Met Hall of Famer, the family on Growing Pains was named in his honor. Number of sitcom families named for famed Yankee starters: 0
Tom Glavine: Some call him an artist. Its just their way of saying 'can't throw over 90.' Glavine helped boost the Mets after sneaking over the Mason Dixon and bringing us the secrets of Braves Nation. His wife: hot.
Dwight Gooden: Great pitcher, except for the whole drugs thing. Though if you look at the numbers he put up, while addicted to crack, just imagine if he was clean and sober.
Sid Fernandez: Fatest Met starter of all time. The end of the rotation of the 86 team, back in the days when the weakest Met starter was actually still pretty good. Crazy, Hawaiin.
Ron Darling: Also Hawaiin. Darling is a mix of Hawaiin, Chinese, and french canadien. Hit two homeruns in two games. Has an Emmy. Darling was involved in the infamous Texas barfight in 1986 with Tueful, Ojeda and Aguilara. He could kick your ass.
Lastings Milledge: Though currently playing in right, in 2009 Lastings will convert to starting pitcher, going 23-2 and tossing the first, second, and third Mets no hitters.
Al Leiter: Traitor.
Jerry Koosman: Won a world series. Was traded for Jesse Orosco, who won the next world series.
Rick Reed: Reed was a replacement player, but not the fun Keaune Reeves, Orlando Jones kind. Did not end up marrying cheerleader.
Bobby Jones: Ex Met starter Bobby Jones is best known for getting confused for ex Met reliever Bobby Jones. Jones was drafted with a pick the Mets recieved after Strawberry left to be a Free Agent.
David Cone: Inspired fans to create SNL like coneheads and wear them to games, finally making Roger McDowells red clown wig look somewhat normal. Actually younger some current members of Yankee rotation.
Anthony Young: Holds Mets, MLBs most unbreakable record ever. Write him in.
Hope this helps. Because in the end, its the intangibles.
Sphere: Related ContentPadres face the Mets again, as the Mets look to continue to take down ERA leaders.
The bats…will need all their spark. Brian Lawrence starts, 1-0 5.06 ERA. Lawrence spent five seasons playing for the Padres, and has not faced his former team since leaving. His win is the sole game he's pitched the Mets have won, getting no decisions in his other two starts. The Mets look to get five innings out of him, he's gone six just once, but its anyones guess as he's been in all over. He's lines range from walk happy (4ER, 4BB) to strikeout greatness (2ER, 6K). And to make it interesting, he faces Jake Peavy. Despite the Mets offense last night, Young has the NL ERA title by a thread, followed by Peavy, who's 13-5, 2.19 ERA. He gave up six hits and three runs in six innings earlier in the season against the Mets, a game the Mets won by 7.
lineup:
SS Reyes
2B Castillo
3B Wright
CF Beltran
1B Delgado
LF Alou
RF Milledge
C DiFelice
P Lawrence
Most of the Mets offense in this series has been Beltran, who had five RBI's last night. He was 2-2 for a walk last time he faced Peavy.
Gametime is 7:10, catch it on SNY and WFAN. And as always, head on by the Hot Foot Bleachers, where we know who the true greatest gold glove first basemen really is.
