All of the steel for the rotunda area is now complete, with the frame for the top level in place, as well as the supports for the promenade level concourse above the rotunda.
Along the third base side of the park, installation of the facade is complete. All of the light towers are also now in place, with two thirds of the lights themselves also installed.
Over at his Daily News blog, Adam Rubin reports the results of the strength and conditioning tests the Mets players took part in which included a 300 yard dash, vertical leap, among other tests.
Rubin writes the overall winner was Angel Pagan. David Wright finished first out of the infielders, Robinson Cancel won the Catchers group and John Maine came in first out of all the pitchers.
According to MLB.com the Florida Marlins reached a new stadium deal which will be built by 2011. It will be a 37,000 seat park on the grounds of the Orange Bowl and will have a retractable roof.
The cost of the project is $515 million, with the Marlins contributing $155 million plus overrun costs. Once moved, they will be known as the Miami Marlins.
Jon Heyman of SI.com reports Oliver Perez has won his arbitration hearing and will earn $6.5 million in 2008 which countered the Mets offer of $4.7 Million.
Perez made $2.3 million and went 15-10 with a 3.56 ERA in 2007
The Kansas City Star reports former Mets prospect now in the Kansas City Royals organization, Justin Huber will most likely be placed on waivers since he is out of options.
Huber who is now 25 years old, can play catcher or 1st base. He hit 18 homeruns in AAA last year and has a career .278 average in AAA.
