For a few weeks there I had the Mets game on, but wasn’t really watching. I was disinterested, as the team couldn’t hit, couldn’t pitch, couldn’t field and pretty much couldn’t do anything right. The Mets then traded for Jeff Francoeur, a move I was mum on. I didn’t really think it’d help or hurt the team too much, but I was most certainly wrong. Francoeur is a vocal guy who has brought this team a much needed jolt with his bat, and with his presence in the club house.

After a disastrous month and a half that saw the Mets fall 10.5 games behind the Phillies in the division, the Mets are finally starting to play some good baseball. Including tonight’s start for  Mike Pelfrey, Mets starters have given up seven runs in 25.1 innings. Not too shabby for a team that will need good starting pitching performances night in and out if they want to play October baseball. With Jose Reyes,Billy Wagner, and  Carlos Delgado possibly two weeks away, the Mets will need to keep playing good baseball until they get their reinforcements back. Hopefully the team keeps chugging and  we get to see meaningful baseball the last two months of the season.
