The Mets and Reds finish off their three game series in Cincinnati this afternoon, with game three set to start at 12:35 EST. Here our today’s Keys to the Game….

  • I’ll Take Jekyll Today, Thanks: Oliver Perez is known for his Jekyll and Hyde act when he pitches. He can go seven innings of one hit ball, and then look like a completely different pitcher and walk the ballpark. Ollie had a rough go of it in his last spring training start in Citi Field, but the weather was not very inviting. The weather in Cincinnati is supposed to be in the low 60s today and hopefully it can propel Ollie to a win.
  • Shrek Power: Personally, I love when Ramon Castro catches. He gives the lineup that added power threat in the 7th and 8th spot that pitchers usually take for granted, and Castro usually burns them. Alex Cora will also be making his first appearance of 2009 at 2B. Let’s hope the reserves can give the lineup an added jolt in the lower third of the order.
  • Do Not Pinch Hit Marlon Anderson: This may seem like a stupid key but I am sorry, Marlon Anderson is finished. He looked awful last year, he was awful in spring training, and looked silly up there last night. Of course, he will probably be gone April 11th when we need to callup Livan Hernandez but until then just let him sit on the bench.

As always, if you’d like to chat with fellow Mets fans during today’s game, head on over to the Hot Foot Bleachers.
