According to Marty Noble at MLB.com, Fernando Tatis will be replacing Alex Rodriguez at third base for the Dominican Republic team in the World Baseball Classic. With reports of Rodriguez’s hip injury, the Dominican team was instructed by MLB to contact the Mets about Tatis.
Tatis will most likely meet up with the Dominican team today to prepare for their first game against the Netherlands on Saturday.
An excited Tatis told reporters:
“It’s amazing. It took so much hard work to do it. It’s a great feeling.”
The Mets now have 16 players in the WBC, the most in the majors.
Congratulations Fernando, just be ready to play when you get back.
