The Associated Press reports the deal is official. Heilman was traded for utility infielder Ronny Cedeno and left-hander Garrett Olson, who had just been acquired in a trade with Baltimore.

According to Ken Rosenthal at FoxSports.com, Aaron Heilman is on the verge of being traded to the Cubs for SS Ronny Cedeno and a minor league pitcher. The deal is expected to be announced today and was first reported by Bruce Levine of ESPN 1000 in Chicago.

Heilman could compete for a spot in the Chicago rotation or pitch out of the bullpen.

Tim Dierkes of MLBTradeRumors relays a story by ESPN Radio’s Bruce Levine that Aaron Heilman is close to being dealt to the Cubs, who might be sending SS Ronny Cedeno and some pitching in return.

Who knows if this deal actually ends up happening, but you gotta think that this is potentially good news for ol’ Sourpuss, considering the fact that he’d get the opportunity to blow leads for a contender.
