Tyler Kepner at the New York Times reports that the Yankees signed Andy Pettitte to a one year deal worth $6mm guaranteed but could earn Pettitte an additional $6mm in incentive bonuses based on innings pitched and time on the roster.

I think thats a really good deal for the Yankees, where Pettitte has eat up innings for them in order to get paid. Considering they’ve already locked up CC Sabathia and AJ Burnett, along with Chin-Ming Wang, they have a pretty solid rotation.

What this means for the Mets is one less suitor for Ben Sheets if Oliver Perez fails to sign. Randy Wolf remains a back up plan as well since he no longer seems a lock to sign with the Dodgers.
