FoxSports.com Ken Rosenthal is reporting that free agent pitcher Freddy Garcia will sign with one of the New York teams.
According to a major-league source Garcia, 33, has “pretty much narrowed it down” to the New York teams, the source said, though two other clubs remain on the periphery (White Sox and Rangers).
Rosenthal adds that Garcia might accept a minor league deal because the Mets and Yankees don’t view Garcia as a “certain addition to their rotation”.
Garcia has pitched only 73 innings the past two seasons due to a shoulder injury that required surgery in Aug. 2007.
