The Mets still need a utility player and it appears they are on the hunt for one. There is a report coming from WEEI that says the Mets are interested in signing free agent SS Alex Cora. Cora played in 75 games with Boston last season 69 at SS and six at 2B.
Even though I like Damian Easley I always thought the Mets could use a backup SS so they could give Jose Reyes some more days off. Easley was more of an emergency backup at SS and the Mets were always more comfortable with him at 2B. Last season Cora hit .270 and had a .371 OBP in 152 AB’s.
WEEI adds that the Tigers and D’Backs are also interested in Cora.
