Joel Sherman of the NY Post says Yankees GM Brian Cashman is on the move again but this time it’s to meet with Andy Petttite, who Sherman recently called a phony if he were to sign with another team. Cashman is on his way to Texas to tell Pettitte:
We have signed CC Sabathia. We are about to sign A.J. Burnett. We already have Chien-Ming Wang and Joba Chamberlain under control. So that leaves one rotation spot, and it is time to take the Yankees offer or the organization is prepared to fill that spot and close the door…it was clear Cashman also was ready to tell Pettitte this was the moment of truth.
In other news Newsday’s Ken Davidoff is reporting that Manny Ramirez is so upset over the way his off-season is going he may just hang up his spikes:
Manny Ramirez is growing extremely upset about the lack of suitors for his services, so much so that he has told friends he would contemplate retirement if a suitable offer doesn’t arrive soon, a person close to the situation told Newsday.
Ramirez told a friend that he spends most of his time working out, watching cartoons and playing video games.
Davidoff goes on to say that it is highly unlikely Ramirez will actually retire. Yeah, ya think?
