the AJC is reporting that the Braves have made an offer to free agent SP AJ Burnett. The offer is supposedly in the range of four years for 15m per year. The Braves have been rumored in the Jake Peavy sweepstakes, and also traded for Javier Vazquez yesterday.
The Yankees and Blue Jays are also rumored to have interest.
Burnett, 31, went 18-10 with a 4.07 ERA for the Blue Jays in 2008.
The Braves are realizing that with Tim Hudson out until late August, and with John Smoltz’s shoulder, they need to bring in some proven arms to compete for the NL East crown.
