The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that 19 year old Cuban third basemen Dayan Viciedo has been given the OK to sign as a free agent with a Major League team. Viciedo is very highly regarded and could net a contract more than what fellow Cuban Alexei Ramirez got from the White Sox last winter.
The White Sox are rumored to have significant interest, after what Ramirez brought to their team in the 2008 season.
This guy sounds for real, too bad the Mets already have a great third basemen. I would suggest we could move him to 2B, but the description of him having the frame of a “linebacker” sounds like it wouldn’t work.
