Orlando “El Duque” Hernandez has declared free agency, joining a projected class of almost 200 who will try their luck elsewhere. Duque and his leg kick never quite made it to a healthy place this past season, to the point where most probably didn’t even realize he was on the team. He threw exactly 0 pitches in the regular season.
No word on if the Mets retained the rights to his magic healing boot.
I doubt anyone aside from Duque Fan #1 Julia Stiles will miss his spot on the Mets 60 day DL Roster.
