It was reported by the Philadelphia Daily News that Pat Burrell, the “Met Killer” himself, has turned down a 2-year, $22 million offer to stay with the Phils.
Burrell hit .250 in 536 ABs, with 33 HR and 86 RBI for the 2008 regular season.
By the way, I put Met Killer in quotes because all he’s managed against them this year was 1 home run and a .197 BA…
When watching Loud Mouths on SNY yesterday, I heard Chris Carlin and Adam Schein suggest that Pat the Bat would be a good pickup for the Mets for left field, and came very, very close to throwing up in my mouth. Listen, from a pure, fantasy baseball standpoint, his consistent production of roughly 30 homers and 90 RBI would be great for this team, but I’d have a real hard time watching this guy patrol left field in Citi Field next year. Is it just me?
