* Kelvim Escobar, (Francisco Blavia of Lider en Deportes broke news on Christmas Eve that the Mets were close to signing free-agent relief pitcher Kelvim Escobar. Joel Sherman later confirmed those reports. Today, Jerry Crasnick provides details of Escobar's contract. He will receive $1.25 million guaranteed from the Mets and can earn an additional $125,000 if he makes the Opening Day roster. 7pm 12/26)

Hot Foot comes from the great 1986 Mets relief pitcher Roger McDowell who would use a wad of gum to stick a roll of cigarettes to the back of unsuspecting teammates shoes and light them on fire, thus a Hot Foot.
