The Mets blew another late inning lead, and dropped a heart breaker to the Braves by a score of 7-4 this afternoon at Shea. Jorge Julio got the win, and Luis Ayala took the loss. Mike Gonzalez closed it out for his 11th save.

Ollie Perez was very good, as he went seven innings of two run ball.

David Wright is back. Wright went deep twice today, and more importantly one of his homers was to right field. If Wright can stay hot, we will be in great shape, that is if the bullpen can hold a lead.

In the eighth, Joe Smith came on to clean up Scott Schoeneweis’s mess, to keep the lead at 4-2 for the Mets.

In the ninth, you could tell from the start Ayala didn’t have it. Casey Kotchman and Kelly Johnson both hammered base hits, and Greg Norton followed with a pinch hit three run bomb. Mets Nation was crushed.

The Mets teased us in the 9th, getting the first two on, but the rally was unsuccessful.

Wow, are the bullpen’s 27 blown saves an ML record? Jeez. If there was one silver lining for me today, the Giants looked great, but for you Jets fans, I have my sympathy for you if they lose too.

The Mets begin a four game set tomorrow against those Nats. John Lannan will oppose Pedro Martinez.
