The Mets begin a three game weekend set against the Braves this evening, starting at 7:10 EST. Johan Santana will throw for the Mets, and Mike Hampton will oppose him for the Braves. The game can be seen on SNY and can be heard WFAN.
Keys to the Game:
- No Schneider: As Andrew Beaton reported here earlier, Brian Schneider is out of the lineup with what is being called a “knee infection”. That means, Robinson Cancel will get the start tonight, and possibly more if Schneider’s infection is worse than originally thought. We need Shrek back, as well.
- Bullpen, Get Back on the Horse: On Wednesday, the Mets bullpen imploded for five runs, it’s worst game in close to two weeks. I have confidence with the hot hitting Nats out of New York, the bullpen will be able to get back into a nice groove and give us good relief to get us into the playoffs.
Notes:
- This will be facing their 5th straight southpaw, meaning no Daniel Murphy again.
Southpaws. Boo!!!
- Chipper Jones has been scratched.
