The Phillies have acquired 1B/OF Matt Stairs from the Blue Jays for a player to be named later. Recently designated for assignment, The 40 year old Stairs was hitting .250 with 11 homers and 44 RBI before his demotion.

Why didn’t we go after Stairs? With the injuries to Moises Alou and El Duque, we could have used another 40 year old on the roster… Kidding. In any event, Stairs is better than what the Phillies had on their bench.
