According to Neil Best of Newsday, Chris “Mad Dog” Russo has left WFAN.
WFAN announced Thursday evening that they have parted ways with Russo and that they have extended Mike Francesa’s contract. Mike will continue to host the afternoon drive solo.
Best’s report says that Russo is expected to land at Sirius Satellite Radio.
It’s a sad day in New York sports talk radio history. These are the guys that started it all for duos. Despite their problems, they complimented each other very well.

I am sad to see him go. He is the only tolerable one. Fatso will not do well without Froot Loops, i give him 6 months before they move him to the midday and maybe give bengino and roberts a try at the drive.
Mike is annoying and there is so much dead air when he is by himself. Wish he left instead of Russo.
I thin anyone who wants to listen to someone who does nothing but yell into the microphone at the fans is not my kind of person. I will not miss Chris Ruzzo AT ALL good luck to Mike I only listen when Mike is on any way.
I grew up listening to these guys. Its very odd to me to think they no longer will be doing radio together. I had a love/hate relationship with them, rarely ever agreed with what they had to say, and their sports knowledge was suspect but they were great entertainers. I listened religiously for almost half my life.
When Tony Russo called in, I almost lost it. I was more emotional about it than I expected.
Sad day for sports radio. I will miss having them both to listen to.
