The Mets took the first game of their three game set with the Marlins by a score of 3-0 tonight at Shea. Oliver Perez got the win for the Mets, and Ricky Nolasco took the loss for the Marlins. Aaron Heilman closed it out for the save.
Perez was brilliant again, as he always is in big games. He went seven shutout innings, allowing two hits. He threw 120 pitches.
There wasn’t a whole lot of offense to talk about tonight. David Wright hit a two run homer, and Carlos Delgado added a solo shot of his own. Rookie Daniel Murphy continued his hot hitting, going 2-3 with a walk.
Heilman redeemed himself, going two hitless innings for his second save of the year.
Tomorrow, the Mets and Marlins are at it again. Scott Olsen will face Brian Stokes, making his first start since 2006.
