Mets lost to the Marlins by a score of 7-3 tonight in Miami. Doug Waechter got the win and Joe Smith took the loss for the Mets.
John Maine was pulled in the fifth inning with shoulder tightness, let’s hope it’s nothing too serious. He allowed one run and received a no decision.
Fernando Tatis was once again the big bat in the lineup, delivering with an rbi triple and an rbi groundout.
With the Mets up 3-2 in the 8th, Smith and Scott Schoeneweis combined to allow five runs en route to a tough Mets loss.
Doesn’t it seem like the games we lose, we had a chance to win?
The series continues tomorrow with Scott Olsen facing Ollie Perez.
Added by Peter Wade – John Delcos of The Journal is reporting that John Maine will travel back to NY tomorrow for a MRI and Jerry Manuel said:
“If there’s any soreness, John Maine won’t make his next start,”
The Daily News Adam Rubin reports that pitching coach Dan Warthen said Pedro Martinez might pitch one inning in Tuesday night’s game.
Warthen said the decision will be made Tuesday afternoon whether to use Martinez in the game or to have him throw a bullpen session with hitters standing in the batter’s box but not swinging.
