Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports writes that the Phillies had been discussing a deal with the Rockies for both Matt Holliday and Brian Fuentes, but conversations “reached a standstill”.

Rosenthal said the deal was believed to include Shane Victorino, pitching prospect Carlos Carrasco, catcher Lou Marson and others.
The Phillies have rarely been a team that goes and trades the farm to get a ‘win now’ player, and they never seem to want to pay to keep them. Could be smoke and mirrors or maybe they’re actually going for it this time.
