The following are a list of clues for you to guess three different Ex-Mets:
Player #1 (easy):
- This Ex-Mets SP started 23 games for the Mets in 2002. He didn’t even finish the season for the Mets, he finished it with the Cincinnati Reds. He is currently a member of the San Diego Padres.
- As a Mets SP, he is probably best known for trying to hit Roger Clemens when he came to the plate in the regular season Subway Series in 2002. He failed at his attempt and threw the ball behind Clemens. Later in the game, he mashed a 2-run HR of Clemens.
Player #2 (medium):
- This Ex-Mets 2B was brought over from the Yankees to the Mets by Willie Randolph prior to the 2005 season. He rejoined the Yankees the following year, and since has become a member of the Seattle Mariners.
- Mets fans grew especially frustrated with him when forced to start in August of 2005 he batted .204 with only four extra base hits in 23 games that he started.
Player #3 (hard):
- This utility infielder played 2B, SS, and 3B for the Mets in 2001. He is a career journeyman, playing for the Phillies, Padres, Mariners, Royals, Rockies and Rangers throughout his career in addition to the Mets. He is now a part of the Rangers organization.
- He is probably best known during his stint for the Mets for pitching a 1-2-3 inning, and topping out in the mid-90’s on the radar gun. People were surprised with this skill on the mound because he was a career infielder. Although he showed skill and struck out a batter in the inning, he has never pitched in the majors again.
Post your guesses in the comments section, good luck. Answers will be posted at the end of the day…
