The Mets (35-36) begin a three game set tonight against the Colorado Rockies (31-42) at Coors Field. Gametime is slated for 9:05 EST. The pitchers for tonight’s game are John Maine (6-5) for the Mets and Aaron Cook (10-3) who pitched a complete game four hitter the last time he faced them.
Keys to the Game
- Don’t Let Holliday Beat You: Matt Holliday is one of the most feared hitters in all of baseball, and can beat you in many ways. If Maine can limit the damage by the two big guns Holliday and Garrett Atkins, the Mets should be ok.
- We Need Length: For the second straight start, this has been a Key to the Game for John Maine. His last time out he threw 6.1 innings against the Rangers, and in order to match the 10 game winner Cook, Johnny is going to need to bring his A Game.
- Bring the Bats: Guys, this is Coors Field, some crooked numbers would be greatly appreciated. Dan would also appreciate it if you could win on his birthday.
- Healthy Rockies: This Rockies team is completely healthy now and are armed with all their big bats. The Mets need to get on top early and put the pressure on the Rockies to beat them. Troy Tulowitzki is off the DL and in the starting lineup tonight against the Mets. Tulowitzki went on the DL almost two months ago with a torn left quad. At the time, Tulowitzki was hitting only .152 (16-105).
