If you don’t remember, I own a pair of lucky Mets tube socks. The last time I wore the lucky tube socks, was on April 15th, which was the beginning of our five-game winning streak - our longest of the season.
People have observed the power of the lucky tube socks before and often pose me with the question, “Why don’t you just wear the lucky tube socks everyday?” The answer is two-fold:
-If I were to wear my socks everyday, they would lose their magical powers. If we abuse the lucky socks, they will no longer treat us with wins.
-Society dictates that I should wash my foot wear every so often.
So, in the name of losing three out of four to the Nationals and a series with the Yankees that pending a sweep could turn into a serious meltdown, the lucky tube socks are coming out again today. But wait, there’s more.
The tube socks will be worn, at Yankee Stadium today.
Yes, I’m fortunate to have gotten tickets for today’s game and I will proudly be wearing an orange Mets shirt, along with my lucky tube socks to make sure the boos rain on me.
Don’t worry, it’s always the best feeling to have them booing you the whole game and then to walk out after a win while they’re all speechless.
