I posted this pic because no matter what is going on with my Mets when the AL East standings look like this I can’t help but smile.

(before yesterday’s final scores were reported)

No worries about Johan Santana and his routine, according to Steve Popper of the Bergan Record, he didn’t even warm-up:

“I was just hanging out, waiting, on a holding pattern,” Santana said. “I didn’t get the chance to put my uniform on. It’s better than warming up and everything. I’ll be ready [today]. We’ll start all over.”

According to plenty of reports, the Mets players cleared the air and covered more than just the Billy Wagner outburst. Marty Noble of Mets.com had this quote from an unidentified player:

“If it means hitting behind the runner, being more accountable with the media or holding your tongue — it’s got to be done if we’re going to get moving,” one player said. “We got past the stuff with Billy and Carlos Delgado pretty quick.”

Newsday’s David Lennon covers the aftermath of the Wagner mess. Wagner thought it was unfair that the reports of what he said were interpreted by some as racial or equal to remarks Paul Lo Duca made last season:

When a reporter linked Wagner to Lo Duca on Friday, the closer erupted. “Who? Oh, that’s right. Lo Duca. I’m Billy,” Wagner said. When the reporter tried to cut in, Wagner shot back: “There’s no exception to that. I’m Billy Wagner and he’s Paul Lo Duca, so you can’t really put him in my boat. That’s something that he said. What I said was nowhere near what he supposedly said. You can’t take what I say and tie it to what he says for — – and giggles.”

ESPN Insider Buster Olney reported that the Mets along with the the Red Sox, Braves, Yankees, White Sox, Rangers and Mariners are keeping an eye on free agent Freddy Garcia who is recovering from surgery and continues to make steady progress in his throwing program, and next week, he’s likely to begin throwing off a mound.

Ed Ryan of Mets Fever breaks down the Mets “issues” with his version of five stages of grieving dating back to last season… its a good read. Check it out.
