The Mets come back and take the series, rebounding from their awful night with another good afternoon. A mostly good Ollie Perez helped, he had a beautiful five innings. He gave up one hit over the first four, hit a batter in the fifth, and then gave up three runs in the sixth, during which he threw a wild pitch and gave up a triple and double. Well, he’s Ollie. Its a good outing for him. He struck out 8, walked four, and stole a base. And yes, you read that correctly. For those scoring at home, thats a base stolen by Perez, and home stolen by Alou, all within less than ten days. The bullpen combined for three scoreless innings, with the bulk of the work going to Show and Felciano, Joe Smith faced (and defeated) just one batter.

For the second day in a row, the Mets had back to back homeruns, todays courtesy of Beltran and Church in the fifth. Reyes looked good, going 3 for 5, two stolen bases, and his eight double of the season. Castillo tripled in his first at bat, on a two for three day, but was later pulled due to a sore quad. We can’t complain too much, I couldn’t walk to third from home let alone run out a triple. Marlon Anderson and Moises Alou had doubles of their own.

Are the Mets finally heating up, or is this just another tease? The Nats come to Shea tommorow, so we’ll find out then.
