Not the prettiest win, but a win. Johan struggled a tad, gave up ten hits and three runs including a homer to Edwin Encarnacion. Santana used 38 pitches in the sixth inning, 116 overall. Its his first victory at Shea. Heilman, Feliciano and Sosa each added an inning of relief, with Heilman and Feleciano doing their part to see if they could make it a save situation for Sosa. Sosa walked one, but gave up no hits. Unlike his other friends in the bullpen.
Carlos Beltran had a bit of a nice day. Two for three, with a triple. And a few (5) RBIs, to bring him to 18 for the year. Delgado and Schneider had back to back homeruns in the seventh, so maybe further down in the order is better Carlos. Delgado was 3 for 4 and also doubled. Wright went 2 for 3, joining in on the hitting party.
Reyes and Castillo were the only position players to not use their bats in a constructive fashion, walking once apiece while going a combined 0 for 8. Castillo will be riding the bench in this evenings second game of the double header.
The Foot will be back shortly with the preview of your night game in todays day night double header. So make your beer runs, fire up the grill, and smoke if you got them. We’ll see you all back here in about an hour.
