BDSSP: John Franco saves the dayJohn Franco recent appearance on “The Best Damn Sports Show Period.” was pretty entertaining. Besides the fact that he was interview by the usual hosts, the panel included David Wells who pitched for the Yankees when John was with the Mets. So, when the Subway Series and the Clemens/Piazza broken bat throwing incident came up it was interesting to watch and listen to both former players perspectives.

Franco also spoke about:

  • Playing in his hometown.
  • Ordering pizza and watching football games while in the bullpen.
  • Playing a physically abusive game with Mike Stanton called “Pass it down”.
  • His feelings about and chances of making the Hall of Fame.

It was great to see Johnny. Always easy to root for. The pride he takes in being credited with the only Mets win in the subway series is obvious here and it makes me feel good for him.
