Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports is reporting that the Mariners have sent outfielder Adam Jones home to the U.S. from Venezuelan Winter Ball, signaling that a deal for Erik Bedard could be on the way.
The Mariners would also be asked to include reliever George Sherrill, minor league pitcher Chris Tillman, and 1 or 2 other prospects in the proposed trade.
The Baltimore Sun, however, reports that the Orioles have denied they have agreed to a deal.
“We do not have an agreement with the Mariners,” said Andy MacPhail, Orioles president of baseball operations.
Jayson Stark, at ESPN writes that the trade awaits Orioles owner Peter Angelos‘ approval. Angelos will not be available today to evaluate the deal because of a family matter.
