“If it were up to me, I would stand pat on the trade front and offer Colon a one-year six million dollar contract with a team option for 2009. Playing with demanding veterans like Alou and Martinez, along with the pressured environment of New York, and most importantly cash incentives might be exactly what Colon needs to trim up that waistline and make a return to his Cy Young campaign of 2005. Colon will be turning 35 in May and I think he could be a perfect addition to the starting pitching depth. This would give the Mets the ability to use a 6-man rotation when all are healthy, which would be a rare occurrence.
