Yahoo! Sports is reporting that MLB might be suspending those affiliated with the Albany steroid bust, and that could cause some problems with the players’ union. According to the article “Although baseball’s drug agreement specifies penalties for criminal conviction for use of a prohibited substance and for participation in the sale or distribution of a prohibited substance, it is silent about discipline for possession of a banned drug.”
Mets relief pitcher Scott Schoeneweis, who was named earlier this month for receiving 6 shipments of HGH while he was with the Chicago Clubs during the 2003 and 2004 seasons, is one of those facing suspension. Schoeneweis still does not admit to using steroids.
