ESPN reports that Cliff Floyd hopes to be back on the field for Tuesday's
series opener against the Padres at Shea Stadium, but tests on Sunday
revealed enough irritation that he might have to sit longer.
“Tests show that I have some fluid in there and inflammation and thickening,” he told the New York Post.
Floyd may be available to pinch hit, but he said that playing the field was difficult.
“We'll
evaluate it on Tuesday,” Floyd said. “Hopefully I'll be able to do some
things that's going to allow me to go out and play, play the way I know
how to play.
“I don't think I'm ready to play.”
The state of Floyd's foot is likely to have hastened the Mets need to acquire Ledee.
